Pro 58 or XTR-560?
I had the Pro 58 and was very happy with it. I gave mine to my father and i'm going buy a new one. I see the XTR-560 is new from Whistler. If you were going to buy a new one, would you still get the Pro 58 or buy the XTR-560?
What's the big deal about the XTR series compared to the Pro series?
If you can wait just a little bit longer I will have some testing done on X band and K band.
After that I will see if Prof Jim can do some testing with the KA and maybe a laser if he has one or someone else can.
Here is my initial review on the XTR 560, it falses alot less than the PRO 58 I had.
If I run it in city 1 mode around town it is very quiet, I even go by a Walgreens every day and it never falses there. The only other detector I have that does not false there is my Bel 795.
I have a Walmart by my house and all of my detectors will alert a K false but the Whistler does a better job at filtering it than even my 795.
It will only show a quick K alert with 1 bar then go back to being quiet.
As far as a detection I have only had one real alert and it was on K band and I had about a 1/4 mile warning and he was coming toward me in the opposite lane.
howz the display? daylight and at night?
you can shut off the voice right? i can't stand the voice alert.
it detects Ku band, the US doesn't use Ku right?
i don't know how long i can wait. I feel naked driving my car now. I've used a RD since i started driving(15 years). It is a weird feeling not having my radar protection.
i heard a lot of good things about the Bel 795 / 895.
should i consider these too. what are the differences compared to the Whistler Pro/XTR
The display in the day time can be washed out if the sun is entering in the car at the right angle.
As far as night you can adjust the brightness of the display. This thing is bright even if you put it on dim.
You can turn the backlight off but then you can not read the display at night.
Yes the voice alert can be turned off.
No Ku being used in the US at this time.
If you can not wait then I would recommend the Bel 895.
That is a great detector for the money!
