    Default Whistler 1430 Accessories

    Hey all,

I have a whistler 1430 sitting in my drawer here for a couple of years, it does do much and since I have my V1 I never used it again. Yet, I might place it in one of my other family cars. I can't find the powerd cord as it was hardwired in my old car. Does anyone know which accessories (power cord) is compatible with this unit? I went to the whistler site but I want to make sure that the accessories being sold there are compatible.
Or perhaps someone knows the correct plug size/polarity so that I can purchase one at Radio Shack and hardwire that.

    Thanks

Well the polarity should be marked on the side near the plug. Judging from my ancient Whistler Spectrum 1, I'd say it's a 2 1/2 mm male jack you'd need. But who knows...

Best buy sells a "universal detector cord". Has several different tips and you can choose the polarity. Pretty cheap too (under $10, I think).

I have a Whistler 1470. The plug it uses is 3.5mm OD x 1.3mm ID, or "Size H" in Radio Shack lingo.
Their "generic detector replacement cord" will work with it, I think this is it:

Pricey IMHO, but it IS Radio Shack...

Radio Scrap is a good thing?

Go try and visit a surplus electronic equipment store... when I was acquiring bits for my PNI hardwire I got the little plug for 10 cents, and the wire I already had lying around.

At Whistler's online store, power cords that do not have a model number listed in the power cord's description will work. Only very old dual band units used the larger power cord and the model name will be listed.

For models you're not sure about (what bands, accessories etc), go to Whistler's detector page and click on the "Additional Models" button then look over for the "Older Models" pull down menu. From there all the old Whistler detectors are listed and available accessories for them are shown.

So how is that 1430 working out for you? I have one but it stopped alerting to K and X band. Still alerts to Ka band and laser. The laser detection on it is quite good. Sure kicks my RX65 in the pants, but that's not very hard to do.

Try perfroming a factory reset to see if those bands come back. Hold the power and quiet buttons down and while holding these buttons, plug in the power cord. The unit should beep twice indicating it's reset.
