    Default Quick Pro 58 Question....

Hey There. I have searched for a bit on the forum as well as reading the Whistler manual, but I still can't seem to find out how to...

    > Turn POP On \ Off
    > Turn Safety Radar On \ Off (If it can even be done)
    > Turn off the Power-On Self Test

All three things I'm looking to do with the Pro-58. If anyone has the trick I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

PS - Is it pretty well established that turning POP ON with the Pro58/73 will reduce falses?

Yes, because the RD will monitor for the POP frequencies at least once every 67ms... therefore leaving less time for sweeping the rest of the K- and Ka-band and possibly picking up falses (from, for example... COBRAS!)

    Great! Thanks for the reply.

Does anyone know how to toggle POP On\Off with the Pro 58? Any takers on the Power-On test \ SWS? Thanks guys!

Page 7 of the manual makes it sound liek there is no short "POST" only the normal.

Page 11 of the manual shows the bands and how to turn them on and off. Unfortunately for you - there is no band selection for the Pro 58. All bands are active, all the time - regardless. and You can not turn SWS off on the Pro 73 either, from what it looks like.

    Hope this helps.

You can't turn the POP nor SWS off on the Pro-58.

You can technically turn off X by going into City 2, I think by pressing City three times if you are starting from Highway mode (basically till it says C 2)

The features of the Pro-58 are very limited.

You can turn POP On and Off by the following.

Turn on the unit and let it go thru the preamble.

When the unit is displaying an H or C, press both volume buttons and hold for 2 seconds. You will hear a beep beep and POP will be Off. Repeat to turn POP On.

    For the Power On test.

Turn on unit, during the preamble, press and hold the Quiet button for 1 second or so then release.

why do you want to turn pop off in the first place?

it doesn't give you any more detection range.

I just wanted to know how to toggle the feature. I'm keeping it on because I feel it reduces the number of patheotic Cobra users I pick up.
