Default VG-2 question for Whistler Pro 73

I just bought the Whistler Pro-73, fairly new to radar detectors, and I noticed the VG-2 is off by default. Is it best to have this off or to turn it on?
    Thanks Adam

I would not turn it on unless you are driving in an area that radar detectors are illeagle.

I believe with it turned on the detector has a decrease in perfomance.

EDIT: <BOOMER IS CORRECT - N3T>, however with VG-2 on in a state that detectors are legal, you will get a lot of falses from poor detectors such as cobras! Yuck.

This is straight out of my owners manualuring the period a VG-2 signal is detected, a radar signal cannot be detected.

In my book if it is getting a VG2 signal and it is a false signal then the detector is useless for a real radar alert.

That is why I said it has a decrease in performance when the VG2 is enabled.

    Default Laser can

Laser can be detected though while the VG-2 alert is going off.

And on that note - with a Whistler, chances are when you're getting that laser alert - you're smoked.

Keep it off unless you drive somewhere where RD's are banned... Gas stations and other detectors love to false VG-2, and each VG-2 false induces 30 seconds of radar detector shutoff as it tries to hide its signal

Oh yeah if you're in an area banning RD's you probably shouldn't be using a Whistler period... At least with the non-XTR models, VG2 immunity is not the Whistler's strength!
