Ive just ordered a XTR-560 and was wondering if anyone has any tips for me on how to have it set up for use in the UK?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Probably turn on ku band since it's used in Europe.

Please switch on the Ku and post the experiences. In Budapest (Hungary) something always sets the Ku off.

Is Ku used in the UK?! :shock: I thought only the French use it in western Europe.

Also, you might want to mount it vertically, depending on the photo radars they use

My xtr-560 came today and just been out with it for the first time.

I got an x band warning every time I came near traffic lights with traffic sensors on them so I changed the mode to City 2 to shut the x band off.
I also got a constant Ku warning and it seemed to be coming from two specific sets of traffic lights which I found pretty strange and I also got a Ku warning near a speed camera but when I came back through the camera it did not go off again until I had already past it. I also had one PULSE alert.

I done a bit off research last night and apparently the main band used in the UK is K, KU is used but rarely. But I also found out that there are Speed cameras called "Watchmans" and they use the X band but these are for traffic monitoring purposes only and the most u can get from one is a letter in the post if caught speeding but no fine or points

Spent about 4hrs on the motorway today and it picked up allot of KU signals along the motorway quite constant at some points. I got a few Pulse readings on the motorway too.

I had a couple of K readings and within in minute I went past a leo and the second time one was parked up. I was in Birmingham today and the place was flooded with Traffic cops near the motorway. Also had a few VG2 alerts go off.

Dunno how many of these false alarms. The constant at times KU warning on the motorway seemed strange not sure if its picking it up from something from the big trucks or not. But my xtr kept me watching my speed anyways in them traffic cop filled areas so am happy!

Any1 know wot could make it false KU or Pulse? or are these more likely to be genuine?

KU band is not used in the UK at all. It hasn't been used since the government withdrew type approval status for the mini-Gatso. (looked like an aluminium briefcase lying on its side and sitting on top of a tripod. (Do not confuse this with the Mobile GATSO, K band, which is still used - looks like a normal GATSO, just mounted on a tripod to make it mobile.)

K band is only real threat as you're not likely to encounter a Watchman outside of Greater Manchester area.

KU falses on Motorways are from one of the mobile phone operators' masts.

No VG2 - so they are falses. (No RDD whatsoever here yet!)

Cheers for the info allyoops Ill turn the KU off then it goes off far too frequently so ive just had it on silent but ill switch that band off now and the VG2 also

Is the KA band worthing leaving on?
I read on the Snooper site that they use KA in new STALKER radar guns?
