Cruising home today on Hwy 24, approaching the intersection with Marksheffel. Moved into the left of two turn lanes to turn north on Marksheffel and gunned it to get past an Expedition. Of course, the soccer mom talking on her cellphone in the Expedition cuts me off. At that instant (as I flipped her off), the Pro-78 alerted LASER.
I haven't heard a laser alert in a LONG time, so I damn near peed myself. Slammed on the brakes, downshifted, etc. Rolled up to the intersection and looked around. The intersection is on the crest of a hill, and I saw no LEOs. The airport is in view, with their approach radars 2.7 miles from where I was, but I didn't see any LEOs. The LASER went away after a single gut-wrenching alert.
I turned north and the first thing I saw was an El Paso County Sheriff turning into a newly built (not on my image) neighborhood. Now, as far as I know, El Paso County only uses K-band, and I don't think it could have scattered a half-mile up a hill anyway. So my guess is it was an airport signal setting off the 78.
Either way, it scared the CRAP out of me. Sheesh.
