    Default XTR 690 filtering options

I was reading in the manual the XTR 690 has 3 different filtering modes.

    1. normal filtering
    2. an additional analyze
    and
    3. two additional analyzes.

    My question is:

Why have 3 different filtering methods? Why not set at #3 and drive around, does this retard the performance? Is it a bit like the City, City 1 and City 2 modes?

I noticed on another posting Michael B had mentioned he had changed his on his 78 (didn't specify on #2 or #3)??

Not a big deal, was just curious. I'm heading on a 1200 mile trip in July with the family and would like to diminish false radar alerts but don't want to sacrifice performance. Any input would be great

Same thing as the filter options on the Pro 78. Per Michael B:
The 9, 10, and 11 band models have different sweep and park timing and schemes therefore the Filters add additional time to determine if it may have been due to the offending radar detector.

    Let me clarify.

Filter is for 11 and 12 band RD's
    Filter 1 is for 10, 11, and 12 band RD's
    Filter 2 is for 9, 10, 11, and 12 band RD's

Each filter adds an additional 100ms of double-checking before deciding to respond.

Select the Filter that is needed for your general area. Start with Filter and give it a week. If you feel you are receiving too many false alerts from RADAR DETECTORS, try Filter 1 for a week and see if it has been reduced. If you continue to receive false alerts from RADAR DETECTORS, try the Filter 2 setting.

    This does not effect POP

    No change in sensitivity.
Only additional look before choosing to alert based upon the information at hand.

Set to Filter 1 and you should be all set for most RD's you encounter on the road.
