How do these models compare in performance?

I'm finally gonna make the move to get my first RD and after some extensive searching, I narrowed it down to six models and I'm just curious how the performance compares. I am aware of the features and the reason there is a wide variety for me to choose from is because I like the features they have. I do realize there are other detectors that may be better in my price range(namely the Pro 78) but these are the ones I want to pick from. Any comment will help.

XTR 330, XTR 690, XTR 500, Pro 73, DE 1793, DE 1788

I would go for the pro 78. Its based on the same platform as the 690 and its a little bit cheaper. You can go for the 690 as well but in the end it really comes down to your personal preference. If you want to go a little bit cheaper but still great performance you can go for the pro 73. Cheaper then that but still one of my more favorite detectors that whistler made you can get the 1793.

A lot depends on where you live. Do you do more city driving or country driving? If you're more rural, I'd go for the Pro-73, since out in the country you won't get as many falses. If you're a city boy, then I'd definitely go either XTR-690 or Pro-78.

Just go for xtr-690/pro78 and feel good knowing you got whistler's best. The difference will be $30-$40 at most from whistler's low end models.

and btw, where is the pro78 cheaper? Everywhere ive seen it its more expensive than the xtr690
