Looks like the 690 is already paying for itself
I picked up K-band IO on a state trooper headed towards me.
First I got a signal of 4-5 bars ramping up to 8-9. Then it dropped silent, but sure enough about .4-.5 miles down the road it light up again to 9 bars as the state trooper went by me. So he was probably .7-.8 miles away when the 690 first alerted me. I was only going about 13 over the PSL so it was PLENTY of time to slow down. The car that was ahead of me was a decent ways ahead, so I'm guessing I picked it up when he shot him with his radar.
Also had another K-band encounter (not a save I was going PSL ). I was very impressed with this one as I picked up another state trooper coming towards me at definitely over 1 mile away. My 690 all of a sudden goes K PULSE, so I look around thinking I've been hit with IO but I dont see anything. It goes silent and then jumps back up to 8-9 bars about 4-5 times, so at this point I'm really confused :? . I watched 4 cars go past me in the opposite direction and finally the 5th was a State Trooper. I'm assuming he was turning his radar on and off when he was going past the cars in front of me on the two lane road. This road was pretty flat and open btw.
Overall these two encounters were very impressive.
Only bad thing, it was like 90 degrees here yesterday and I left my RD up when I ran in to a store, it ended up taking longer than I thought. So it got really hot and I got some bogus LASER, KA PULSE, and KA POP7 readings shortly there after. I'm always taking it down from now on!
