    Default XTR-690 Mounting

Okay, so I wanted to ask you guys where i should mount the RD in my car. I don't do too much highway driving so I don't think that laser will be much of a problem. Here are some pics for you guys to look at. Feel free to draw on them and repost.

Haha, the funny thing is, I completely looked over that even though i looked where the oval was made and was like, what?? theres no monkey! lo and behold haha.

so you guys don't think that the blue tint up on top will interfere at all with it? i wouldn't know, i'm just making sure.

....y'all have a good sense of humor...

Right under the tint, right above the Rearview. If you don't care about laser detection, then you can mount it even higher behind the tint as it would affect radar reception unless the tint was metallic.

I think the pictures show more space above the RVM than there really is. I think if i put it up there, it'll be behind that blue tint anyway, if not than there's only about a half inch of non-tinted window to deal with. Plus, the depth is very limited, maybe 2 inches on the left, and 3 inches on the right (above the RVM for both), and that would be if the RD was right against the windshield. I'll have to try it out when it comes tomorrow.

But about the blue tint. How do I know if it is metallic or not? I'm sure it's no different than what's on any other car. It is what comes on the car. It is a year 2000 Ford Mustang if that helps at all.

I was also wondering this too, I would love to hardwire mine above my RVM but there is tint (from the factory). I have no clue if it's metallic and could care less about laser.

Maybe the common-sense way is wrong, but here's what I would do:

Find a known radar source (i.e. shopping mall). using a mount below the tint strip, drive to the edge of the alert (i.e. were you barely get an alert). Now, move your detector into the tint. How is reception compared to before?
