I found myself in Greensboro, NC today and was running on the I-85 By-Pass.
The trip had been pretty uneventful, because every LEO I saw had customers and had the radar units on hold or off...
Just when I was getting bored- I was running 75 mph with traffic and rabbits with the PSL being 65. I received a Ka alert and knowing that SHP loves this stretch of road, I decided to back down to PSL. I continued and the Ka alerts stayed constant, so I knew it was a real threat. After 1.1 miles I passed a Greensboro PD motorcyle unit on the shoulder running constant on Ka in my direction. I'm not sure what brand of radar they run, but I was excited to see what the Pro-78 could really do!! That is the best range I have seen with my unit so far on any band and the most ideal scenario or setup I have encountered because the road is pretty open and relatively straight in parts.
On my way back a little later, they were still out playing. I was driving NB and approached a slight hill and recieved a Ka alert. Roughly .3 miles later I spotted the motorcycle unit parked on the shoulder on the SB side running Ka constant in the opposite direction. As I passed, the Ka alert kept steady for the next .75 miles until I was around a curve and out of sight!! Awesome rear detection range with the reflected signals!
These encounters finally proved the Pro-78's Ka abilities to me. The upcoming updates will only make it better!!!
