    Default laser alert

I am new to using rd's and just recently bought a pro-78. I tested it out recently on a trip from St. Louis to Indianapolis. During the trip there were several times when the laser went off for a couple of seconds but I never saw anything. Is there something that could set it off other than a cop?

There are many many things that can set it off. Laser cruise control systems on some luxury cars, the new GM Envoy LED brake lights (also used on some other GM's), airport high-power radar and also wind shear measurement systems, EZPass toll bridge fast lanes, and probably more.

If you get a laser alert and don't instantly see a cop on the shoulders or a bridge overhead, it's most likely a false. Laser operates by line of sight, so you don't need to be looking for a cop for the next minute.

Thanks for the information. That certainly would make some sense with the cruise control and the other items you pointed out. It did go nuts when I passed the Indianapolis airport but I knew that was from the radar.
