After searching through the forum I was unable to get any info on the whistler XTR-255. I know everyone here likes the PRO-78 or XTR-690, but I already bought the XTR-255 at Walmart ($76.98).
The manual that comes with the XTR-255 also has the XTR-140, XTR-260, and XTR-330 listed with similar features, and after reading some of the other posts I am under the impression that the lower end models are on the same platform as the Pro-58. Am I right in assuming this? and should I keep this detector or return it for a better model?
After reading some of the posts here I also saw that Walmart repackages some detectors for in store branding, so is the XTR-255 really another model? I'm so confused.
Thanks for your experienced help.
It's built on a similar platform as the Pro-73/58 series but due to size constraints has a smaller horn, so it'll be somewhat less sensitive than them.
In real life, you'll have adequate X/K performance and borderline Ka performance, and also a noticeable rate of K-band falsing.
Overall I'd recommend to return it if you can, and get an XTR-690/Pro-78 online.
Hey thanks jdong,
Thanks for the info. I figured that would be the answer to my ultimate question of whether I should return it. I just wish Circuit City had the XTR-690 for the $117.00 I see it online for. Oh well I guess I'll just have to wait for the mail to come.
try buy site for 121 dollars.
Yep thats where I got mine.
