Default Pro78 Ka save...last one as Rev A!

Well, this morning I made the decision to finally send in my Rev A Pro78 to Michael B to be upgraded to the latest and greatest Rev C-

On the way to FedEx, I received a Ka (35.5) alert. I was running 55 in a 45 zone, and was able to get down to the PSL quickly. Finally, after 0.7 miles I saw the LEO on the right shoulder looking for a victim. He got a Honda Accord behind me instead!!!

So, letting my 78 go a few minutes later for it's update and checkup was bitter sweet!! As a Rev. A detector it has been incredible...I can only imagine the improvements I will see from Rev. C and can't wait to have it back and on duty.

Now all I need to do is knock the dust off of my Escort 8500 in the interim :?

Mmm very nice, this was one of my biggest concerns when purchasing a new detector. Glad I picked well!

I have had the same problem! usually on my trip from nacogdoches to houston and back I get around 8 radar hits. Not a single one on the highway, but driving around in houston I had a few encounters with Ka that were very good, and blistering K sensitivity as well.

Pro 78 rev C is no joke!

I'm helping a friend pick a mid range priced detector. We were looking at the Bel940 or the Pro78. Reading your post I see you are using the 78 over the 8500. Just curious if you think it out performs the 8500. Might help us choose since I know what the 8500 is like.

i have seen a topic like this before... overall was the pro 78... or the 690. same platform, but the 690 is about 10 bucks cheaper and has a compass if that has any interest to your bud. he wont be let down by the 78/690

To be honest the 8500 and the x50 seem about the same in filtering and sensitivity. Ramp up was smoother with the 8500. Ka may be a little better on the x50, but not much. Only reason I run x50s now is I got good price on my 8500 and decided to upgrade to two new units.

It is basically a matter of personal preference between the two. Personally I like the Pro 78 display more, which is what caused me to buy it... I wish I did have the compass sometime, but luckly for me I am not directionally challenged :]. Im pretty sure they both can be customized with the same options.
