Hi, I've seen a lot of people mount their RD's under the rear view mirror or otherwise very high, but it says in the manual to mount it as low as possible. Which is correct?
Also, what does I/O and C/O mean?

First let me say welcome to the forum!
Mount high for better range detecting radar, mount low for laser- I mount mine just under the rearview mirror with good results. The thing about laser is that when you get the alert, more than likely you are already busted. So I don't worry too much about keeping it mounted low for that reason.
I/O = Instant On (when police flip the radar on and off in hopes of defeating detector users.)
C/O = Constant On (when they leave the radar on all the time and is real easy to detect)
Hope that helps-
Thanks for your help! One other thing...today I was driving for the first time with my RD and had it set to Auto-Mute. However I received a Ka band alert that went up to 4 then just stopped. Does this mean that the radar signal went away or is that part of the Auto-Mute feature? I would like to know when the K and Ka signals are still there and when I am safe from detection.
it must have auto muted it if you kept that feature on, i advise not to use automute.
if it is an i/o it will go on and off depending on how the cop uses it and how far u are from the radar, so better not to use automute.
Ok thanks.

Guide to mounting your detector
i suggest high and to the left of the rear view mirror... or even above the mirror if possible... i can't do that cuz of the black bubbly strip or w/e its called and it doesn't stick, but the higher the better. and don't worry about your tint strip, wont affect radar at all, and according to some, will even help increase the likely hood of catching laser scatter
as long as your tint strip isn't metallic... good luck
