    Default XTR 690 cop detection

    I've been driving for the last couple of days about the same route and I noticed that the XTR 690 doesn't pickup cops. I know they have to have their radars on but what are the chances of 6 cops in different situation having their radars off?
    I might have changed some settings during this period trying to make this detector work. Don't get me wrong, I pick up occasionally some KA bands , K band X bands but never picked up a cop so far.
    What settings should I have my whistler on?
    I know I am supposed to have
    POP= OFF
    filter mode=filter
    I also have it set on highway mode.
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

    Does the self test work?

    I am using the same settings as you, it could just be they are not running radar.

    Do you get false alerts from K/X band door openers?

    I travel through two PD jurisdictons every day. One of them has their radar guns off 99% of the time and the other one has their radar guns on 80% of the time. It seems to be a local PD policy thing. Basically, the odds are extremely high that all 6 police cars were not running radar.

    Defective, absolutely not. If it detects false alerts from door openers, then it's working fine. Give it time. Lots fo LEO's do not run radar most of the time. Rev. C is not a bad idea, since this will give you better radar detection range, but it will not help you detect a nonexistent radar signal. Newbie RD users think that the percentage of LEO's running radar is a lot higher than it actually is.

    Some departments obviously train their cops in how radar detectors can be beat, because there's one dept in my area which never ever leaves stray radar running. If you find them with radar on, you know they're ready to pull someone over.
