Well went out of town using my Pro 78 and had a few encounters. About a mile from home got a KA burst and then went silent so drove a little further got another brief burst so I had already slowed down and was scanning the road ahead about a 1/2 mile up when I crested the hill there was a slick top traffic unit running KA band hidden on the side of the road behind a brush pile he was facing south, I was coming from the north going south however looked like he had a gun in the back window as well.
I then picked up my dad and we started on our trip and had numerous KA alerts getting plenty of warning beside the one I/o alert that we had on a divided highway but there was a retaining wall all the way down the highway so doubtful he could have got us also the wall possibly blocking some of his radar signal.
Then we got to our destination we found a K band speed sign that was perfect for a quick test with my Pro 78 and my V995. I first did the Pro 78 the sign was on low power because both detectors did not pick it up as far away as I thought they would however both gave ample time to slow down.
First pass was with the Pro 78 mounted high left or review view mirror the Pro 78 alerted over a 1/2 this was around a curve so I was impressed then turned around using the V995 mounted in the same place the detector alerted about 1/10 of a mile sooner which was just about a few seconds still plenty of time to slow down.
I admit when first buying any detector I have to learn to trust them however I will recommend the Pro 78 to anyone if they want a great detector and don't want to spend a lot of money. The V995 is a good detector as well however has a tendency to false more than the Pro 78 does. You would not be going wrong with either one however I find myself using the Pro 78 more due to the fact it does great on KA and does not false near as much as my V995 however would not get rid of my V995 as it has been a great detector as well.
