    Default Pro 78 problems

Has anyone else had a problem with their Pro 78 alerting randomly to Laser? Mine goes off anytime anywhere such as my garage, parking garage, out in the middle of nowhere...etc and will not stop alerting to Laser until I turn the power off. I just got this unit back from whistler where they replaced the speaker. The audio sounded garbled and very scratchy. I had also returned it before that for the Rev C update.

I have X band turned off, POP off and have tried all filter modes but the Laser alerts just keep going and going. I don't think any of this makes any difference to Laser alerts but I just thought I would include this info.

if it is alerting non stop all the time it might be some electrical problem in your car. try in some other car and see if it still does.

The Escort 9500i I use now as well as my Bel RX65 do not have this problem in the same car.

Different detectors respond to things differently. Try covering the detector completely... Put it in a box and close it and see if it still alerts.

Michael B. checked out my Pro-78. Ran it through some tests and road tested as well. He didn't find anything wrong. I have had it back long enough now for over 900 miles of all kinds of environments and have had no problems at all.

I just wanted to thank Michael B. publically. He contacted me first and offered to test my Pro-78. He turned it around quickly and even called me to let me know of his findings. I own Whistler, Bel (Rx65) and Passport (9500i) RD's and Whistler customer service is absolutely the best.

    Thanks Michael
