Ok, so a few minutes ago, I was going down a street that was perfectly straight. There was a cop hiding out far back in a parking lot from eh road, but where he could easily pull out if he got a speeder. The instant I saw him, my Pro 78 instantly alerted at Ka with 5 level, but it would have been about a 50ft warning, so no time to slow down. Lucky i wasn't speeding.
Now I know about the Cosine affect. The more of an angle that the radar is to the vehicle being monitored (in this case 90 degrees), the speed will always show less than what the driver is doing, so the driver has the advantage.
However, even at a 90 degree angle, it think the cosine is around 5-10 MPH less. SO if you were really speeding (25+ over PSL), then he would get you.
My question is POP, I used to have it on but never got a Ka hit on it at the time, and I have heard having it off reduces falses on Ka. However, when I had it on, I didn't get any more falses than usual.
So my question is, does POP make Ka more sensitive to weak Ka signals? If I had POP on with this same encounter, would it have alerted me a little sooner?
Does POP reduce any range on any other Band, or is the only thing POP do is create more false alerts on Ka due to increased sensitivity?
Thanks! P.S, If you want a map of how this encounter was layed out, just say the word and I will make one.
