I had another experience the other day with my Pro-78 that left me wondering about its abilities to catch a Radar off axis. To make a long story short (I put the details of this encounter under the "Real Experiences" tab), I saw the LEO before my detector went off, and was able to drop enough speed to avoid his interest in me.
My Pro-78 did alert me about a second or so after I saw this trooper. I don't know whether I got hit with C/O or I/O, but as with my other off axis encounters , I never did get anything but a couple of strength bars, even though I passed right next to him. There isn't any chance his radar was pointing the opposite way, the center highway barriers made it impossible for him to cross over even if he did clock someone driving enthusiastically.
So my question is...will the display on the XTR-695 allow you to choose the color of display for an alert on one single frequency.... ie., a red display for 35.5 Ka band only?
I have a feeling the latest encounters I've had that have allowed for very little time to react have all been this frequency. It would be great to know this frequency is pointing your way with just a glance at the color of the display.
