Default Pro 78 questions

I just joined here and am very happy I found this place!

I own a pro 78 that I got around Christmas time last year (2007). My buddy recently bought a Pro 78 and he said that it has a new revision. I was wondering if it was possible to send my radar detector to Whistler and have them do the revision to mine.

And earlier today I was driving and I picked up a k-band alert. As I continued driving I saw the cop driving the opposite way I was. He did a u-turn and got in front of me. K-band continued to stay on as I drove behind him. I was behind him for a few minutes and my detector started to say "caution" and it beeped until he did another u-turn and turned off on a side street. Thats the 2nd time that it has came on while driving. What is it?

Thanks
Zack

I pm'd Mike and he told me to check which revision I have by holding "city" down while turning it on. Turns out I have rev C.

I still seem to get false alerts ofter. I have it on city mode, filter 2, and x band turned off cause I only got false alerts w/ it on.

Unless you know for a fact that X band is not used in your area, I would suggest you turn it back ON or at least run in City 1 to reduce X band but not eliminate it.

You may want to also run in the auto quiet mode to automatically reduce the audio level after a few seconds of alerting.

I'm curious, did you get X band false alerts pretty much all the time before you turned off X band? Older 700MHz cell phones can cause many radar detectors to false on X band. Mine sure did. I recently upgraded to a newer cell phone and my X band false alert issues disappeared.

False alerts are going to happen no matter what detector you have. Is this your first detector?

turn off pop mode almost all of my falses are from pop. just to let you know the pro 78 resets its memory any time you disconnect the power wire from the unit. kind of odd if i keep my unit plugged into the wire and remove it from my car the memory doesnt reset, but if i unplug it from my hardwire kit to take it inside all of my settings get reset.

After making your setting changes, you may want to shut the unit off with the power button then turn it back on and let it go thru the power up routine.
Let me know if that solves your issue with losing the settings when removing it from your car.
