I have only encountered K-band and Ka-band (34.7) during my commute.

K-band: In K-band, the V1 has no equal with respect to detection range and sensitivity in every conceivable circumstance. Around sweeping bends with little to no variances in elevation, the 695 does surprisingly well. But when there are some elevation changes thrown in the mix though, the detection range is hindered slightly.

Ka-band: In Ka-band (34.7), I have had limited encounters. With a mobile Ka equipped patrol unit coming towards me on the highway in the opposite lane sampling traffic IO, the alert from the XTR-695 came virtually at the same time as my V1. Detection range was not fantastic for either unit in that situation, but each unit gave enough warning to bleed off any speed.

False Alarm Suppression: I have my XTR-695 set in Highway Mode with the default (normal) Filtering option and both X-band and POP disabled. With these settings in mixed city/highway driving conditions, the XTR-695 is fairly quiet unit. Its false alarm supression is good - an order of magnitude better than the V1.

I have my own mini-review on the XTR-695 going in another thread, so I'll be adding to it as my time with it continues.

ok and so far you like it, the colors come with the detector right, you could change in the program mode

Yes you can select the colors in the programming mode and select what you want during a no alert condition as well as a different color for each of the X, K, Ka, and Laser alerts.

For those that do not want the compass display you can substitute the Voltmeter in its place by pressing both the quiet and dark button together for a few seconds.

My vehicle has a compass so I prefer using the voltmeter function instead

Question to all those currently driving with the 695.
Are you liking the Ka RSID feature?

Michael B: I like the Ka RSID feature and have tested it with 34.7 Ka and it's accurate. The LSID on the other hand, is semi accurate because the pps readings fluctuate slightly. I would be cautious locking out anything on LSID...

If you are up close and testing the LSID you will get an occasional count error and the PPS may change slightly.

If you have a laser gun test it from a few hundred feet away.

As for locking out a laser source, I suggest only doing so when the PPS is greater than 20% different from a known police laser PPS

However if you are too close, do not worry as the screen still gives you the information and you will get two initial beeps.

The lock out does not completely ignore the laser data, it just presents it in a way that doesn't scare the crap out of you.

Test it as described and let me know your opinion

Yeah i'm liking the RSID. Unfortunately it looks like off-axis detection of 35.5 is a little worse than i had hoped for, but the 695 outperforrms my v955 on k-band.

i recently had a half mile 35.5 detection in a hilly wooded area. my pro78 alerted like it would for a i/o ka band but as i go to the top of the hill the alert went to three as i could see crown vic lights approaching at the bottom coming up on me, as he past me the strength meter went up to six and quickly faded as he went the opposite direction.

first month or so i noticed my pro 78 had below average range, now after 3 months its got great range and falses alot more on highway mode in the city as compared to when i first got it
