Default Pro 58 vs Pro 78

I currently own a Pro 58 and like it alot. I'm looking for some real world results about the Pro 78 (thinking about upgrading to Pro 78, since my Pro 58 is 4yrs old) I've checked out the GOL results, but I want to hear from others about their experiences.
My Pro 58 gets .6 mile alerts on K & Ka (sometimes a little further if conditions are right) X-band I get .75 to 1 mile alerts (I've had over 1.5 mile alert on X-band)
So please give me your opinion & experiences with the Pro 78, so I can see if I should spend the money to get a new RD. I do like the price (I'm cheap)
Also how is the rear detection, I get .2 mile on K and .50 on X-band
    Thanks in advance

Buy a Pro 78 ASAP. It it worlds better than the Pro 58 ESPECIALLY on Ka. Do not wait any longer trust me on that one

    beefcake,

Like the others have mentioned the Pro78 is much more effective on K and Ka band. I own a Pro58 and Pro78, I can tell you from experience you will not be disappointed with the Pro78. I recently completed a trip close to 4000 miles. I used the Pro78 alot on the trip. I had several confirmed Ka band hits over 2 miles. I had one that was 2.75 miles with the LEO running instant on. The K band is better with the Pro78 also. It would appear to me that KA band is becoming the dominate band of choice. There are places where X and K band are still in use, Oregon being one of them.

If Ka band radar is facing towards you, then from my experience the Pro78 is fantastic at sniffing it out at long range with performance which rivals the more expensive big boys. The Pro78 (or XTR-690 or XTR-695) is the only other radar detector aside from a Bel, Escort or Valentine RD which I trust to alert me in plenty of time about oncoming Ka band radar threats. I don't give this accolade lightly.

What is the range for X band, I run into alot of X band in NJ. Most of the X-band encounters I've had have been facing me, although a few from the rear (entrance ramps facing away from me)
Here in PA I run into K & Ka from the state police plus those damn what your speed is signs & contruction signs that are all over PA.
MD I run into Ka & Laser, DE laser, NC X & K. Im not really worried about the laser detection as most lower price RD's really dont have the range to make a difference anyway & I dont have a jammer either, So if its not "splash" from another vehicle they have you anyway with the laser.
I'm really more worried about radar ranges since I have more of chance of slowing down in time to avoid the ticket.
With the Pro 58 I get around 1-1.5 mile alerts on X-band but on average I get .75 miles. Ive heard that X-band detection is a little weak with the Pro 78. Is this true???

X band is probably Pro 78's weakest band to deal with. If you encounter a lot of X band then look at a V1 or STI

The X band of the Pro78 is less than the Pro58 but it is more than enough.

Everyone needs to remember that the X band radar is very wide and is a higher output power than that of K and Ka band.

Mike why would it be less?
