I've been commuting to school (50 min drive) for 2 months now and I see about 1-4 state troopers per day parked in the middle of the highway in various locations (on the dirt) and my radar detector never goes off.
Actually, ONCE it did blip Ka for a second or 2 as I drove by. I've passed probably close to 40-50 state troopers now. I have an XTR-690 Rev C.
Luckily I have memorized where the gaps are now that they park at, but is this just a case of Instant On? Or are they using something that it can't pick up? What are the state troopers using, period? I never have a problem usually on the local roads with the county LEOs.
Also, the past few days I have been running with POP ON, is this good or bad for this type of scenario? I've heard POP ON can decrease sensitivity to all band ranges. So is there any benefit to having POP turned ON? I would think it would increase sensitivity since it would pick up short bursts of frequencies right?
Thanks for info in advanced.
