Thumbs up 1st save with XTR-695

My wife and I were coming home from shopping today, it was quite a mad-house on the highway.

We were doing about 72mph with the rest of traffic (PSL 65), when I got a Ka band alert, 34.7 on the RSID.

Well, I slowed down a bit, and went into the right lane, looking ahead to see if the leo was approaching from the other lane, or camped out on the side of the road. I was content to let a couple doofus's speed right on by me at 73+.

Well, I went about 3/4 mile and still saw nothing, and the 695 was still going and getting stronger. Then I see the CHP cruiser, behind me! He just flipped on his lights, and floored it passed me, went after one of the aforementioned doofus's in a Yukon.

Now that I know where/how he came from, I can say the reaction time and proper RSID of the 695 was amazing, especially around the mild curves we were navigating, and from behind.

    I'm very impressed...

nice save, this is where a detector with arrows rocks, you could have instantly knows it was behind you instead of trying to guess. I think I will get a 695 for my dad to upgrade his pro 58 sometime.

    Hehe...

Arrows not really useful IMHO, but thats just me. The 695 did its job, and quite well. It warned me with plenty of notice/range, I really dont need to know if its front or rear like that - I've already slowed down at that point, so it doesnt matter where he's coming from. Wherever the cruiser shows up from wont matter, he wont have anything on me!

Part of the problem is my "re-training". I'm not used to a RD capable of looking backwards with any authority, so I assumed "he's ahead of me" by default. Now I know better, it was a good learning experience for sure.

Nice Civic.... I was in my '07 EX Coupe during my encounter... hehe.

How did you mount your RD with that dopey "dot" stuff Honda puts on the windshield there?

Hey Jag I just bought my first RD, the Pro 78. I was wondering....how did you know these were 34.7's since there is no RSID on the Pro 78's?

90% of Texas DPS run Stalker DSR II 34.7 radars. You can learn by looking at there mounts on there dashes and antennas and Tx have state contracts with stalker. 10% DPS run K band. Stalker is the most popular radar by agencies then is 2nd Kustom Eagle 35.5 which is the hardest Ka band to pick up with very weak detection half the time. Stalker Radar is out of Plano,tx .. Congrats on your 78 mount it high and you will have great results with radar. Laser your screwed anyways. Buy a LI or blinder laser jammer !

Cool thanks man. Yeah i'm excited for my new pro 78. Truth is I just ordered it and it is still in the mail! But I was wondering where to mount it. the problem where I live is that stupid California has a law against mounting things on a windshield. But I think I will mount it just below the tint strip and above the RVM so it is hard to see. I just need ot figure out how to hardwire it.

Oh P.S. Jag, enjoyed your youtube videos!
