My list of the best current Whistlers:

XTR-690, Pro78, XTR-695 in order of increasing features and performance.

Pro 78 my personal favorite. I had the Pro 73 it was good too.

Pro-78, XTR-690, XTR-695 in order of preference for me (The XTR-690 wins for cost-effectiveness over the Pro-78 IMO)

At any rate, the older platform is better for areas where X/K is your primary threat; they perform just as well on K and a lot better on X, and never confuse the two with each other.

I did a little experiment with a x-k only older whistler with Pulse(tm) holy momma did that thing pick up brief K-band alerts! Now that the new detectors have to scan such a large frequency range they really lose out on instant on sensitivity IMO.

I don't have the hottest/newest whistlers btw. Has anyone else observed this with the newer models against the old?

This is just a crazy idea so bare with me. What if one could get a whistler with only K and ka bands and of course lazer. Do you think this whistler model would pick up IO faster potentially?

I also wonder if not having a antenna that also picks up the wider x-band with of course it's larger antenna that is needed for it's reception of it that the k-ka bands couldn't be received much better with a smaller antenna focused on those bands?
