Default IMPRESSIVE 1.5 mile 35.5 Ka SAVE

I was on the I-24 coming from Ft. Campbell and heading toward Nashville to hit up the bars with my buddy on Saturday night. While driving at 80-85MPH on a 70, the road began to veer to the left, and I heard the voice say "Ka Band", looked at the RD and saw "35.5". As we kept turning left with the traffic, the signal grew stronger and the RD beeped more and more. Then about 1.5 miles from the initial detection range, there was a LEO sitting about 50-100 feet from the road at a 45 degree angle or so, shooting radar toward traffic.

In short, my Whistler saved me from being lit up.

I recently had a .75 mile Ka 35.5 alert. This may may not sound very impressive until you realize the road I was driving on, many curves and hilly terrain. The initial alert was better than 30 degrees off axis identified initally as Ka band, then the next alert was 35.5. After coming around a long curve blocked by a large hill, I encountered the LEO, this was 35.5 constant on. Considering the encounter I was impressed. This was using the XTR695.

Same here in Va Beach...I got hit today w/ C/O 35.5 picked him up at about 1.25-1.50 mi. and then he hit me w/ the LASER! I guess VBPD is looking into LASER for their Motocops. VBPD has always been K and KA band. I love my STi! Sorry for the Hi-Jack...I had to put one in for STi.

Was that THP, Metro or a local cop?

Damn, so your saying I-24 has 35.5?? I thought laser was bad enough. I haven't had a confirmed radar sighting in Nashville in months. They are switching to laser.

What's the deal on 35.5 KA?

My Whistler XTR 695 has picked it up a few times lately but only for a few seconds each time, and I see no LEO around. It's not like a momentary 34.7 KA hit - I usually get no voice alert and no strength numbers are displayed. Local LEO mostly shoot 34.7 KA either C/O or when they see a target. Many of the local city LEOs have their radar on all the time so we usually always know they are around.

Supposedly on a 695, if it alerts with just the band ID (X, K, KA) and not band ID number, it is probably a false alert and so far I have found that to be true as far as I can tell.

Is there anything else out there that can cause a false 35.5?

Does anyone know of any LEOs in TX using 35.5?

    Thanks.

As far as your LEO/Texas question, no idea. I've been pulled over in TX with my brother's Cobra on a road trip. It picked up Ka band, stopped, so I continued to speed, and the officer was driving alongside me, right next to my window, looking at me, then went behind me and pulled me over. He saw the radar detector, too.

Needless to say, if my Army dogtags weren't hanging off the rearview mirror (I purposely put them there in case the Cobra failed me, which it did, lol), I'd have been done, but got away with a speeding ticket.

Anyway, to answer your question about falses, try using FILTER 1 and 2 and see if that helps. I've enabled Filter 1 around where I live because of K falses and don't get them anymore.

Impressive. The only 35.5 Ka I've seen around here has been I/O though.
