I'm a long time Whitlser fan, having started with the XKRE-55 (?) in 1978, then Spectrum (1983), Spectrum 1 with Pulse (1989) and so one. I currently have the Pro78.
The area of audible alerts is an area that I would like to see Whistler improve. Specifically, it would be great if the audible alert increased with intensity based on radar source/location and finally bled into a solid tone like the older escort/passports.
The solid tone audible alert on the Whistlers would (IMHO) really be a great addition to their line up and be a great improvement to an already great RD.
BTW, did Whislter ever make any RD that had such a tone/threat level audible alarm? The closest I can remember is the Spec 1 with Pulse protection. Even though it was not a solid tone, it still gave good proximity to the radar source.
I wonder if the limiting factor for using such an alarm as I have discribed is increased cost or complexity or both?
