I've had my XTR-695 for a while now, and with all the miles I drive in a week (about 500), its more than paid for itself a few times over I'm sure. Its proven itself to be exceptionally effective against CHP 34.7, and to a less common occurrence, Yuba City PD's new 33.8 guns.
I really dont consider myself a big 'speeder', I tend to stick near the PSL matching the flow of traffic to max of 5 over (65). A few years ago, the CHP would rarely even look twice at you for doing 10 over, but of course anything over that and you were dead meat. How the times have changed....
These days here in Northern CA, they are using extreme zeal in speed enforcement, its getting common to get cited for 70 in a 65. Their tactic is simple, shoot a large group of cars, if theyre doing at least 70 in a 65, simply pick a vehicle out of it, and cite'em. Easy money for the Locality and State.
My 695 has always given me a ton of warning even when the CHP is using the QuickOn/QuickOff method (aka QO/QO). I get a RSID 34.7 blip, I drop to a perfect 65, and move to a right lane. Some poor sap doing only doing 70 invariably gets nailed a couple/few miles down the road..
So thanks Mike and your team at Whistler, this is one of the best tools I've ever bought
I look forward to what cool new stuff you guys have coming up
