I've been using an XTR-140 for the past couple of months during my morning commute - dense urban and hilly; Torrance, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, and El Segundo along PCH. Most of the cops along this route shoot Lidar, so I take it pretty easy. Haven't had any confirmed pick-ups along this route with the XTR-140 yet, and zero laser hits. You'd be hard pressed to hit 40 (35 psl) most days as the traffic is pretty heavy, so the cops generally don't patrol the area during rush hour.
Anyhow, I received the XTR-695 yesterday and decided to test it out before sticking it in my wife's car.
Pertinent Settings: X off, POP on, Ka RSID on, LSID on, factory filter mode, Highway mode
The 140 falses on K band at 2 locations - a Walgreens and a CVS. The XTR-695 was falsing all over the place on K and Ka "regular", Pulse, and POP with no apparent rhyme or reason. Didn't see any cops, plus I didn't get an RSID so I'm pretty sure most of the alerts were false. Doesn't mean it couldn't have been picking up I/O over the next hill though (PCH is pretty hilly).
For tomorrow, I think I'll turn POP off and see how it goes. Maybe the Highway mode is increasing the sensitivity across all bands. As the days go by I'll experiment with the City and Filter modes and let you guys know how it goes. The real test will be in a couple weekends when I drive back up to Mammoth. The CHP loves to hide out along Hwy 395.
I'm definitely a fan of all the customization on the 695. Sure beats the Highway, City, City I, and City II options I'm used to with the 140. Like other have said, the 695 display is a little hard to read, but it's not too bad.
