    Default Whistler XTR-140

I was looking for a detector to use till I get my V1 back. I am just dying without a detetor. It looks like I found this whistler for $40. How well does this do with 35.5 ka band.

Quite well, see my posts in another thread. The XTR-140 is best when the radar is right in front of you, I've had a few 1 mile+ saves (never over 2 miles). The K band detection is on par with higher end detectors though.

Not going to be in the same league as your V1, obviously, but it should do the job if you don't push the speed limit to hard

Ka band is for the 1 mile saves I discussed, it's fine on line of sight but around corners and over hills the detection range drops significantly. I never got tagged by laser so I don't know how well it responds to it.

Definitely worth the $40, just don't expect it to perform as well as your V1!

Do I see a side-by-side comparison coming over the horizon?

I don't think the XTR-140 would stand a chance, but I'd really like to see how close it is! A friend of mine has a V1 but we've never gotten around to doing a proper comparison.

I bet it's better than any Cobra.

That's a very unfair comparison, my cupholder is probably more effective than a Cobra. And it doesn't set off other people's detectors.

its well worth the $40 i paid for mine. just have to watch to see the k/ka signal to stay lit or flash to see if its picking up k or ka band. i have gotten over a mile detection on K band and slightly less than a mile on Ka
