I have a post in another thread about X and K falses on my 690SE and that all my LEO encounters had been with radar off, well, be careful what you wish for came true for me last night.
Around 11:30pm I had to rush my wife to the hospital, I was probably doing about 70+ on a stretch of a two lane road. There was car I estimate about a half mile in front of me that had disappeared as the road curves to the right while gaining in elevation, little did I know that car was going to be my rabbit, just after that I had the first and only warning alert.
The 690SE alerted Ka 34.7, at that moment I went from not giving a crap if I was pulled over due to my wife's emergency to my foot finding the brake pedal before I could even think. The alert lasted about 1-2 seconds and about 4-5 seconds later a vehicle rounded the curve coming my way when the 690SE alerted to Ka 34.7 again, between Google Earth and my memory of the location, he lit me up at about 1000-1100 ft away, as it passed me sure enough it was a marked county unit.
My analysis, no rabbit=trying like hell to explain my way out of a ticket regardless of what detector was in use no if ands or buts, rolling I/O would've owned me. Secondly Mike B's design worked when it needed to for me. Last and most importantly my wife's condition was stabilized and she did not have to be admitted to the hospital, thank God!
I'm sure I'll have the opportunity to do road sign testing in the future to see what it's limits are, but for now the 690SE just paid for itself and then some last night. I know the Pro78 has been taking some hits on it's performance but FWIW that's my LEO experience with the 690SE.
