Default KA Pop Falses in Cities?

Just got a Pro-78SE. Been a while since I used a detector. I live in the Seattle area where we have (like most major cities) traffic cameras and you can go online to see the traffic flow for all the major freeways. I put the thing in City mode, then City 1 and then City 2 and was surprised how many times I was getting KA POP alerts with signal strengths in the 6-8 range (I realize City mode mainly reduces X band detection.) I'm the KA POP alerts are from the traffic cameras that not only shoot video but measure the speed of traffic. But I'm also concerned this is not normal for a good quality detector.

Oops, I just remembered I brought up the subject of POP detection in another thread and the consensus was to turn it off since no one is using it. Maybe this will get rid of those alerts otherwise all the alerts from the traffic monitors render the detector somewhat useless for quite a few miles of freeway around here.

To make the detector really quiet try.

    Turn POP off
    X off
    K off
    KA off
    Laser Off
    Filter 2

    LOL

This will make things really quiet the only noise you might hear is the sirens going off in your rear view mirror.

Escort calls this TrueLock and it is indicated by a spinning satellite.

I turned POP off. Still get a Ka Level 9 false alert around all the traffic flow camera towers on the major freeways in the Seattle area. Tried all filters. It pops on at level 9 for about 2 seconds. I believe this is because the radar is essentially pointing at a very steep downward angle from the tower so it is bouncing back up instead of being pointed on a horizontal plane towards the car. It is annoying since the State Patrol is using Ka. Essentially I have to train myself to ignore an immediate Ka Level 9 with no frequency readout in the areas I know there are towers. I may need to try a different brand but I would suspect they will all detect it. I hate the feeling of having to ignore certain Ka alerts. Could get me into trouble if a trouper hung around one of these towers. I need a Ka with no RSID filter essentially!

I'm wondering exactly how the City mode on this thing works. As I understand it, it just changes the alert and not the actual sensitivity of the detector. On City, it alerts once with voice and then doesn't beep unless the signal gets significantly stronger. City 1 is suppose to only do this for X band and City 2 turns X band alerts off and leaves everything else the same. I doubt any law enforcement on the West Coast is using X band. Maybe I should just turn it off in the Options Menu?

With POP mode turned off you should not be getting the 2 second L9 POP alerts. Try doing a factory reset then turn POP mode off and see what happens.
