199 kw at 638MHz? WOW! That kind of power can easily generate harmonics of several watts in the mid GHz range at short distances. This would wreak havoc with a RD! That much power can even induce significant signals in the RD circuit board itself, bypassing the antenna entirely and overloading the front end. No wonder you are getting false alerts!

I will look into this source of interference and let you know what I can do to solve it.

Do you live near Craig Peterson on a mountain?

Mike B i know the filter modes are intended for leaky RD's but while i'm running in Filter 2 mode it never ever falses on Ka in Dallas/Ft.worth area. How ever in Filter mode it will pick up some Microwave towers K and Ka band. There is allot of these towers in that area. POP on increases these alerts by 40% more falses. In New Mexico there is a communication tower that leaks X band for 7-9 miles.

This happens in our driveway, in the neighborhood, city streets, county roads, state highways and the interstate. Without exageration, we are unable to travel even one mile without multiple Ka, (POP and Pulse) indications. There are a couple of locations in the neighborhood where I regularly detect specific Ka frequency IDs but my wife just gets a Ka strength 9 signal .(Unusually we get no Xband falsing even in Highway mode in places where our old detectors would always pick up door openers etc.).

Currently running Filter 2, Ka with frequency ID, X on, K on, POP, Safety Warning, etc. I will try turning off POP, Safety Warning, etc.
I have always read where Ka is alerting. It should be a real radar alert. I haven't heard of Ka falsing, only X and K band falsing.

Ka falsing issues are Leaky RD's Cobra,Uniden,Safety alert,Older Bels and some microwave/transmission towers.
