Hey everyone. First off, i just wanted to thank you all. I decided to get a Whistler Pro-78SE a week ago partly because of the good reviews on this site, and partly because its supposed to be a good detector in the price range. I was also able to hard wire it to my fuse box and install an on/off button thanks to some posts on this site. (I would post pictures but i can't yet.)
At first i was a little weary since i heard that the SE models had some issues and weren't as good as the original, but after reading some posts and watching some videos, i decided to go for it.
Well, in the past week, I've had very few encounters. Actually, I've had quite a few LEO encounters but only about 3 times did my Whistler go off. I assume they weren't running any Radar. However when it did go off, it went off with 34.7 Ka and not much range at all. One time, on the freeway, there was a LEO on the opposite side facing me and the Whistler went off at about 500 ft. Another was on a two lane road. The LEO was sitting perpendicular to the road, off to the side and again, the Whistler only gave me about 500 ft.
The only other thing i have to gauge it with is a Speed Sign, and that only gives me about 500 ft. I don't know if that's just a weaker signal, because it only reads as K band without a frequency.
Anyway, any advice would be gratefully appreciated. Sorry for the long post. Please Reply. Thanks in advance.
