    Default XTR690SE Power Off Message

    Hi ya Guys,

Have anyone ever encountered a "Power Off" message blinking and beeping up your indicator panel? What could be the cause of this? Voltage surge or overheating unit?

The other day I was driving with the XTR690SE for a couple of hours off a moderately sunny day. The RD was mounted high on the windshield and shaded by the top shield tint. Suddenly that message blared off the unit. Quickly I pulled off the power cord to avoid any unwanted damage. Touched the underside of the unit and it felt quite warm to the touch of the hand. After cooling it off, activated the power again and the RD worked well for a few more hours till another similar message blared again. This time powered down again and let it cool off for a while. After sundown, none of these repeated during my next couple of hours driving. The RD worked well as expected.

Coincidentally my fuel gauge malfunctioned on the same trip and a visit to the workshop mentioned that electrical failure could be one of the factor that caused the gauge to malfunction. It's a new car that was procured about one year ago.

Have anyone encountered the same incident?

I think thats caused by the battery saver, look for BSVR in the menu and set it to off.

You should be fine, I agree, it's probably just the battery saver. I recommend turning it off.

The Battery saver feature on your unit is set to shut off if no buttons are pressed within a 3 hour window.

If you do not want this feature, enter the menu option mode and set the feature to OFF

You can disable the battery saver feature but i find it useful as one of my vehicles always has power at the cigar lighter socket even with the ignition off. I leave the battery saver enabled when the detector is in that vehicle just in case.

My other vehicles turn power off at the lighter socket when ignition is off. No need for the battery saver when used in those vehicles.
Here the detector powers up automatically when the car is started and shuts down automatically when the car's ignition is turned off.

As a side note, i just found out if the intellicord is programmed to power off the detector, it can also power on the detector too!

Michael B, if you're still out there, this apparently means that even if the detector is powered off, its in some kind of 'standby' state' still drawing a small amount of current for this to work.
How much current is the detector drawing in this 'standby' state?

Thanks for the quick reply Michale B.
Thats good to know since some of my vehicles can sit for weeks without starting in which cale i'll unplug the power cord.

True enough, a counter check on the settings prove that the Battery Saver setting is enabled. Such a silly ignorance on my side Next time I should take a closer look on the manual's fine print.

Now that I have disabled it, there shouldn't be any problem now.

    Thanx all for the advice.

Been guilty of that myself a few times over the years too!
