I'd bet whomever is running the X band radar either has no idea what band their radar unit is, or has no idea that X band is not approved in Florida, or both.

I could see not knowing that X band wasn't approved in Florida but not knowing what band they were using? I wouldn't even think it's a department issued gun if it isn't approved. Maybe they are taking their own guns to work? Stealth Stalker said that he knows of two other counties in Florida running X band so I wonder if this is more common that anyone thought?

X band hasn't been authorized in FL for the last 14 years or so. Turn it off. Your biggest threat will be I/O Ka from FHP. You could also see c/o, laser, or locals, but again I/O Ka is most prevalent.

For the unmarked units, try to see what condition they are in and who is driving. Also, when passing look for a laptop. If they are behind you look in the grill for the reflections from the light pods. Any oncomming crown vics, chargers, and impalas are at least worth letting off the gas to avoid getting blasted with I/O.

OH YEAH!! You are taking the turnpike right? Take the turnpike! Anyhow, the cops prefer to sit in the medians (now they could be in the bushes too). But every single time you come over a hill on the turnpike there will be a break in the median somewhere within the next 1/4 mile or so (they do it on purpose). The cops like to sit in these spots and ambush you. There are like 50 of them give or take a lot (between Orlando and Miami) and as best as I can tell they like to change it up a lot. Here is the trick... as soon as you come over the hill, cover your brake (with cruise still on if your in a hurry), and then find the "No U-turn" sign... there is always one. Then look below it and see if there is anything protruding from the wall... if so, slam on brakes (as much as you safely can) and prepare to get nailed with I/O.

Holy smokes! Haven't been to Florida in a bunch of years but according to these posts, it now sounds like a police state with a cop lurking at every corner with ticket book in hand!
Have any of ya'll just considered doing the speed limit with the detector being a safety net?
