Strange K band

I'm noticing some odd behavior from my 690se. Yesterday I was going down this road with pretty light traffic when I pick up a pretty weak K band signal. Now this area has no fixed radar sources and I drove through it countless times without any encounters so I immediately slow down to the PSL. The signal hit full strength after 200 feet and I'm expecting the Leo to show himself any moment now but nothing meanwhile the signal is a solid 9 that occasionaly drops to 5-6 but bounces right back to 9. This strange signal kept going on for over 1 mile and finally stopped when I turned off onto a different road.

I had the same thing happen before with with this RD on a different road in a different town and different vehicle. My only theories are leaky RDs and vehicles with crash avoidance??? I tried turning off and on the RD and it would pick up the signal again. No video sadly since my phone was dead. Any ideas?

Yeah, had this happen a few times also in an area where there were no known falses and therefore was dead sure there was a LEO lurking some where. And same as you , alert winds down with no LEO in sight.

We'll never know if:
-There was an unmarked LEO we missed spotting
-A LEO parked in a lot out of sight somewhere facing the highway
-A LEO on a perpendicular road
-A false from someone's leaky detector ahead, aside or behind
-Some other microwave source be it a plane's radar or who knows
-The RD just felt like sounding off for some unknown reason

I'll say this, I've owned a few RDs of different brands and all of em exhibited this to a greater or lesser degree. Geuss it just comes with the territory.

That is what sucks about Unmarked vehicles. This happened to me last year in New Mexico and it happen to be a unmarked Mustang outside of Albuquerque. Also from a Dodge Magnum outside of Dallas.

Yeah, I have seen strange K band alerts before as well. A couple of times in the middle of nowhere on the interstate highway.

I wonder if it was point to point microwave transmission and the RD just picked it up.

that was a good video and quite similar to what I experienced before however my falses hang out at max strength for longer periods of time

OH...I did not know the new Belscorts leak K band ? I wonder about the X50 because i get Ka chirps when a person is beside me that has one.

That means the 8500 does too right? I think I just encountered it today.
