    Default LEO in area-indirect saves?

Anyone ever have a save where you would normally exceed the PSL but the detector alerted you to a LEO (maybe out of sight) in the vicinity so you slowed down just in case?

Had an interesting one yesterday. I was daydreaming down a 4 lane 60mph highway and slowed down to make a right turn at an intersection to drive down a 2 lane country highway. This freshly paved country highway for some unknown reason has a posted 45 mph limit which no one including myself obeys. Typical speed is around 60 mph!

My 78SE alerted K band for a few seconds at the intersection which is a remote area where i've never received any falses before. Looked around, didn't see any LEOs. Cautious now, shortly after i completed the right turn, there he was in my rear view mirror, a nice shiny County Sheriff's squad car following me.
Needless to say i did the PSL!

I'm assuming the LEO shut down his CO radar when he neared that intersection. Whether he turned his radar back on again, i don't know because as soon as i seen him following closely behind, i shut off my detector.

That describes my last 3 CB encounters. Just cops sitting in the middle doing paperwork or chatting or taking dinner break.

But it illustrates exactly why EVERY signal is a threat until it is identified.

I also had an encounter this weekend, and probably a save; where I started to get some K ramp-up on a city street where I do not get falses and rarely see enforcement activity; I was approaching the city hwy department, I figured maybe a squad car was in getting worked on, pass the building, and the arrow stays ahead, come over the top of the one bridge/hill on the road and the signal jumps up, and I proceeded to carry the steady ramp up for two more urban miles, until I see a city car, parked perpendicular to the the road on a side street, as I go by just two partners talking to each other, antenna is aimed down the side not main street. While I was checking the arrows andin amazement of how good my 90deg off axis alert was, I traveled 3 or 4 blocks, and sitting in my Bushnell testing spot is another city car, tagging me with a Kustom Signals ProLite+ a toy I had yet to see the locals with.

    Sure, it happens to me.

Just yesterday, on a long straight road in town. Raining. Just passed a CVS where I always get about a 5 second K band alert. RD went silent as always. then I got one, very short but strong blip of K which had never happened before. Had my cruise on so I was at the PSL but the road has a slight downhill just past the CVS. Normally, even with cruise on I would have gotten up to at least 5MPH over the PSL. Then I saw a local LEO sitting blacked out. on the grass median about 20 feet beyond a bush facing the same direction I was going. tapped my breaks - looked down an was doing 1MPH under the PSL. As soon as I read the department name and POLICE I got hit with I/O K band, very brief but strong hit, presumably from his rear radar antenna. As soon as I got past him, he hit me again with I/O K, presumably from is front radar antenna. I was the only one on the road so I guess he targeted me. In over 10 years, I have never seen a LEO there. Had the care been dark colored rather than white, I may not have seen him until the rear I/O hit. But it was a perfect spot for a trap. Concealed median, no streetlights, downhill, about 1/2 mile past a traffic light, clear shot for the LEO both directions, and the rain made him even harder to see. Just goes to show, pay attention to everything. Live and learn.

All the time. Sometimes, I get an alert before I get to smash the accelerator:

This happened to be the other day. I kept getting brief 34.9 alerts which is normally a Cobra somewhere close by. I slowed down because the hits kept happening for about 3/4 of a mile and there were no cars in close proximity. I eventually passed a trooper hiding parallel to the highway. I am not sure if his radar was out of tune or something else? I suppose my 78SE could have misidentified the source but have never had that happen with KA before.

Isn't that the whole point of having a detector?
