questions about whistler 1733

Hi. i tried to test my RD by using radio shack remote control..

when i point the remote control at the RD it beeps and go off crazy. but it dont say X,K, KA, or Laser.... just bunch of strength line going from left to right beeping.. what kind warning is this.

if its a remote control then the only thing it would/could be is Laser. maybe your laser LED is burnt out.

what do you mean my laser led is burnt out...

not necessarily burnt out, it couldve just come un-soldered from the circuit bourd. ive never seen a 1788 before so i dont know what a laser alert looks like. it could be one light or it could be X+K+Ka lights. idk. im sure Boomerman could help you out once he sees this.

EDIT: for some reason i was thinking of a completely wrong Whistler detector. sorry

ops: . are you sure that the screen says nothing when you set it off?

. the red bars go from right to left with siren.i will try to get better picture.. a daytime picture but this is what i have for now.

That model cascades the alert lights from right to left. That is the laser alert. My 1730 does the same thing. The siren tone that it makes is also unique to a laser alert.
