Hey folks, I just bought a brand new Whistler XTR-195 today from my local O'Reilly's auto parts store while shopping for lug nuts, picked it up for $99.00. Just got it out of the freakin impossible packaging and charged up the batteries and have not had the chance to use it yet.
I bought it because i've read that Whistler products were great, and very reliable. I did own a Cobra before, and had a positive experience with it, but after reading about the leakage issue's, among other things, I decided against Cobra.
Now i'm curious as to others experience with the XTR-195. Was it a good purchase decision? Should I run on batteries all the time or keep it plugged in?
2 things I like so far about this model, the first being that NI-MH batteries come included with it, and second, the lighter cord is thin and straight, not the crappy coiled kind.
Also, one thing that's got me scratchin my head, is that in the manual it states to mount it low on the windshield. Now please correct me if i'm wrong, but should'nt it be located as high on the windshield that it can be without any obstructions for optimum reception?
