This is mostly pointed towards Mike B with regards to my 695SE
So, last week i got a KA alert where i usually get little to no falses, so slow my speed with plenty of time, and await for an ID to confirm who it is. Nothing. Finally i spot a CHP slicktop leaving a gas station. He was facing me but I was receiving a 3-4 strength, so I figured it was a rear antenna. I never got a 34.7 RSID (which is what ALL CHP runs, Stalker Duals). I figured maybe because it kept bouncing off a wall and such, it skewed the frequency.
Then today I come down the hill from my house and get a KA warning. I know it has to be CHP since they like to fill up their cars at the gas station at the corner. I get the warning from around a bend (I could not see him) about 1/4 mile, not bad for a whislter around a bend where it could not see the source. Had plenty of time to slow and as i approach the signal, I see him facing me, wanting to turn left. My 695SE was going nuts KA 9, but no ID. None. I sat there for 4-5 seconds on full blast and got nothing, just KA. Now i know something is weird, because this unit use to be extremely quick on IDing 34.7, like within one second upon first notification.
CHP turns left and i go through the intersection. Just then I notice ANOTHER CHP coming up to turn right (and follow me) with his front antenna on. He follows me onto the freeway with his front antenna on onto the freeway for a good 4-5 miles. I set my cruise to 72 and he patiently followed me, everyone else chickened out and got out of my way. Only until 2-3 miles into our freeway journey did it respond with 34.7, and then it would occasionally fall out and just say KA.
The sensitivity of the unit is pretty good, however it is just responding with KA without the ID. I find this to kinda be a bummer considering the cobras do annoy me from time to time and when I dont get an ID, I know it is a cobra. Now mind you I slow for every KA I get, but I would like to confirm which agency is near me spewing radar. Is there anything I can do or must it be sent in for repairs?
