First, I've been reading this forum for a while now and thanks to everyone for all the
great info. Had some questions and found myself signing up as a member today. After researching all the options and all the comments about whistlers great customer service, I bought a non s/e 695 about 2 months ago. So far I've been very happy with
it, but I have a few questions on some KA alerts.
1) I drive on I-235 in Des Moines, Ia quite often. There are certain spots (4 or 5) along
that stretch that I receive KA alerts. Not everytime I'm on it, but about 50% and each
spot doesn't necessarily alert. Sometimes the 695 just says KA, other times it says 34.0 or 34.5. This is the only area this happens at. I just made two 300 mile trips on another interstate and the RD was completely quiet for the whole trip (No Leos). I've heard they have speed sensors to moniter traffic, but these are also on the other interstates. Any ideas on what these alerts are from?
2) How conservative are leos running I/O? Do they clock everyone? Since I've owned this RD, It's alerted to two different leos running C/O 33.8 on the other side of a hill before I could see their car 1/2 to 1 mile away. I ran across one leo that was running I/O 33.8 and was within 75 to 100 yards before the detector alerted. I saw him about 5seconds before he clocked me and wasn't speeding but I would have thought I'd have
seen him before that. There were two cars side by side in front of me about 10 car lengths is there a chance he might not have shot them being side by side? I drove by
an unmarked charger yesterday with no alert but he may have been using laser.
OK well, sorry for being long winded just didn't want to leave out any details that might
help. Thanks in advance!
