Got me an XTR-693SE
I was on the fence about buying a 690SE, then saw I could find it at Wally World in the form of the 693SE. I am going to try it out against my other Whistlers, see what happens. I like a red display!!!

Re: Got me an XTR-693SE
So far, no Ka encounters at all.
K band has been the same as my other "top" Whistlers. I love the display, for some reason it seems easier to read than the Belscort variety, wonder why??
Audio is top-notch, loud and easy to understand.
Bad parts: the windshield mount is almost impossible to remove, you need 2 hands, one to hold the detector, one to hold the mount. Seems like if the button was a little further out it would fix this. Secondly, once again, the led perisscopes shut off if you hit the mute button. I don't understand what the mute would have to with the display?????????
Anyway, I own 'em all, but this Whistler is my new favorite.

I guess I should have said it different, I own/owned 'em all. I don't just mean Whistler. I am just referencing my thoughts on the unit compared to everything else I have owned/own. The only detectors I haven't owned/own is the 9500ci/STi-R/iQ.

I had this problem also with my 78SE. What helped but did not totally cure the problem was to file off any and all burrs on the window mount tongue. After smoothing out those burrs, if the detector is held just at the right angle and wiggled a little while depressing the release button it'll detach easily. Still more difficult than it should be.

Re: Got me an XTR-693SE
Maybe with a lot of use it will smooth out. My old XTR-690 and Pro 78 don't have the same problem. The button also looks bigger.

Re: Got me an XTR-693SE
Ran into Trailblazer taillights last night. I hit the mute/quiet button, so I assume this won't happen again??
