Odd. I had a similar incident last night on an older detector I was trying out to see if it still worked. Mine happened on K band, about the same length of time - some black car was next to me the whole time and then when he turned right off onto a side street it suddenly went away. No automatic doors in that particular area - so I dunno.

Do you suspect he's an undercover (unmarked) LEO?

If that was an unmarked squad using CO, could it be that metal fence between you and the LEO might of attenuated the radar signal enough to prevent the detector from processing an ID?

+1 also it looked like he was coming at you off axis through the curve, maybe enough for the Whistler to miss it until he got lined straight on ya. Still seems like the Whistler should have went bannanas when he was straight on ya. Maybe the Fence was blocking allot of the signal.

Further explanation of what possibly happened during the encounter.
Most of the LEO's radar energy vector would would be reflected off the fence posts due to the fence's perspective from the radar transmitter. In other words, that metal fence would tend to look like a solid piece of metal relative to the radar beam.
Enough radar energy squeaked through the fence for an alert but not enough to process an ID.
I think if the encounter were long enough or if the RDer were high enough, the RDer might of eventually produced an ID.

it was the interference from the fence as stated.
