Redline and V1 are both great detectors. In there own way, they both lead the industry in some way (Redline for range and V1 for response). This video showed how responsive the V1 is...and how consistent it's performance is on short bursts of radar (this could be proxy data for IO/QT detection). Depending on your driving area, type of alerts you want to receive and methods used by LEO's your area, you want a detector that will work best for you.

Yes they both are great,I use them both regularly. In the videos the pro 3600 does well with a flow sensor but that doesn't amount to anything to talk about when in the others the 3600 trailed by approx 13 seconds to a c/o k band speed sign and 100 percent missed real leo i/o ka band.

Agreed, the 3600 did great in some video's but was behind or missed in another. I'm not sure what to think but the 3600 is a good detector at it's price point but not at the same level as the Redline or V1 in terms of leading performance. It competes well against other detectors, just not at the top level yet. Someone that stays close to the PSL, is on a budget, wants a remote unit and likes the other bells and whistles (alot to like), it is a good unit.

You made a very good point! I agree that the 3600 is a good buy for the money and Whistler has very good build quality,it isn't often that one will read about them needing service that I have noticed.

I think you make a pretty fair assessment of the Whistler Pro 3600. I would add a couple of caveats:

    1. Location - Where you plan to use these detectors is huge. In the big city, Whistlers struggle with Ka band false alerts and with X/K confusion if you live somewhere that does not use X band. I probably have 5 months of total testing of Whistlers C Plus platform. These false alerts make them very difficult to use in Los Angeles and they are flat unusable in Las Vegas. In more rural areas, such as between these two cities, they seem to work fine.

    2. Raw Sensitivity - Whistlers rely on filtration "tricks" to try to compete with Belscort M4s, because they lack raw sensitivity. This seems to have the overall effect of making them appear competitive against normal scenarios, but seems to cause massive struggles against more difficult scenarios, such as forward facing, distant or off-axis encounters.

I still wonder how the 3600 does against the M4s?

In my experiences, in straight on (line-of-sight) approaches, the 3600 appears to lag behind the M4s on K-band and (a bit more on) X-band...but, less so with around the curve encounters and/or obstructed approaches and/or exposed to brief reflections of CO/IO radar.

The far more important true story is that the V1 quite often lacks in off axis ka detection and by a few seconds to the Redline.
But hey,it is 100 percent on flow sensors! Gee,that should be touted in the user manual.
It's not so much the traffic sensors, in that it rarely misses brief glimpses of radar (like a seg STiR/+ model, or Whistler). In my area of driving, I find enough encounters where a quick detector is just as important as an extremely sensitive (but slower) one.

Of course where you drive, your experiences may be different (but how would you know, if you weren't alerted in those circumstances?).
