    Default Whistler Reviews ??? hmm

I always believe whistlers top models get the short end of the stick they either dont get tested or they just assume whistler and cobra are pretty much the same. It be nice one of these days to see either the XTR or Pro 73 get a fair testing. I believe if the testing was done correctly and as real world as possible it would produce some suprising results that would lift some eyes. The newer whistler rd's is not a bargain base style rd by any means. And shoudn't be treated that way. That is what cobra should be reserved for bargain base.

Yes, I agree. I bet there are more people (like me) that have a budget and can't afford the big three, then those that can or willing too. However, those people still want a fair chance at protection. It would be nice to see how they perform. Not necessarily against the best, but rather answer the big question, "Will they give me the extra protection that I need?".

I am sorta getting tired of reading posts about which of the big three is doing better this month. Mainly, cause I don't have one of them....lol.

We have done testing with the Whistlers, please take the time to look around in the section of the forum.
The Whislter is a good low end unit and has proven itself several times.

    Good news,

We have incorporated a whister and cobra into our detector line-up.

    ...We're working on it.

Wrong whistler is a mid end unit. Cobra is a low end unit. See its comments like this that get whistler the short end of the stick. "Its just another low end unit like cobra" That is total b u l l s h i t. All reviews that have been done on whistler has been the lower end models or the 1778 etc models. Lets test the xtr series or the pro series. Let me tell you ride around with a cobra for a week now ride around with a pro 73 for a week now tell me that whistler is a low end unit.

greetings, nube here im glad to be part of the forum. Introduction aside...I say Whistler is the best performing detector in the mid end category (e.g.) the Pro Series. It rivals even some of BigBoys....POP false may be a bit annoying but when it gets down to the nitty gritty with detection, it proves itself. Laser is another story...its too good rivaling Valentine 1. Im proud to be an owner of one of these.

I guess you still have not read to much in the Whistler section of this forum or been out to the GOL site.
We did infact do testing on my PRO 58 last fall at the GOL test,
Also I have owned a few different Whistlers and have written reviews on them.

Just so you know the PRO series and the higher end 1700 including the 1793SE series dectectors are all built on the same platform and perform about the same. Same with the 1778.
As far as the XTR series this is brand new and no one has gotten any yet since they have not been released yet.

The XTR 325 and up models are based on the same platform as the PRO series and will probably perform just like the other models with the same platform.
So do not say that this is Bull that we have NOT tested these models because we have tested Whistlers.
I for one go and buy different whistlers and test them.

I think in Radar detector terms we really do not have a middle line we either group them in to the low end or high ends.
As far as Cobra being the low end yes we can say that but at the same time there are some Whistler models out there that could be in the same low end group.
Most of tend to think of the midrange detectors such as the Bel 895, 985 and some of the Escort models.

So the 1788 (but what about the constant on status, because it is cordless) is the same platform and performs the same as the pro series and the other 17xx's?

Obviously you didnt read close enough read the above statement never did I say Bull none of them havent got tested. I said bull because you calling it a low end unit. Bells, Escorts and Valentine are high end units eventually down the road the RX 65 will become a previous high end unit etc. Not to be confused with a new mid end unit I'm not talking about old units like the bell 895 etc. Their are low mid and high units. Some people cant handle calling something mid end unit because it might step on somebody toes.

Man what are you talking about bfg9000d, Boomerman is the WHISTLER MOD for petes sakes! No need to start a skiddadleabout Whistlers not getting 'a fair shot'... especially dont say that stuff about Boomerman, one of the more(most) knowledgeable individuals about Whistler and its products on the whole board... do you think he got that way from bashing their products as you would make it seem to be so? NO... he got there from investing time and being knowledgeable about the subject (and many other -subjects- on this board)

Why honestly care where Whistlers are rated? So called" Mid-line" or Low-line stuff is just labels, it doesnt matter WHAT one labels them at all... their label has no impact on how they perform whatsoever... saying Whistler products are 'low-line' doesnt make their RD's perform any worse... nor would saying they are the best make them preform the best...and as long as you know how well they work... who cares? You know how well they work for you... use them and be happy!

I dont think you see many people on this board ever say to someone "Oh by that Cobra over the Whistler... I love Cobras that set off my 300dollar RD" when people ask questions about them.

I really dont have a problem with you, and I see your point that Whistler is better then Cobra in most any case, but getting into a Hoop-la about what a certain RD is labelled is rather obscene... in the end it just doesnt matter... we all on this board know Whistler makes solid products... a heck of a lot better then Cobra... thats why we suggest Whistler over Cobra when people ask.

Again, its all just labels, really doesnt have any impact onto the detector.. personally I dont mind having an underrated detector... My freak E795 suprises the heck out of people!
