Default Dark mode on the Whistler Pro-78SE

So, I have gone through great lengths to conceal this thing and no matter how I conceal the display can still be seen on Dark Mode ultimately making all of my efforts at concealment in VA useless.

I figured that I would let you know what I did since you all have been nice enough to guide me. I took the RD apart and added a small piece of black stocking then doubled it up over the display between the LCD and the blue lens filter. Now it can only be seen in highway mode and dim mode.

    I hope this helps someone.

I believe they have a remote plug with a remote light don't they?

You could also use a bit of window tint to cut down on the display at night

The stocking idea is another valid option that you found.

Nice additional tips Mandingo! Not sure what the remote plug would do...I had looked at that but I don't know if it would supercede the DARK setting which is certainly bright enough to be seen by VA LEO. Most interesting thing seems to be that the DIM setting is now darker than the DARK setting was without this mod which would still allow me to see but not be visible to the LEO(s). I can't quite confirm it due to the pollen all over the windows on my car. Will clean the up later and fire it up at night so I am not assuming anything. With certainty, the DARK is now almost truly dark and NO LEO will be able to see it. The full bright is still useable just not as pretty (I for certain don't care about that).

I have more trouble seeing the display during the day for some reason even when it's on full bright !

either way since it's a talking detector. I have used electrical tape at times too.
