    Default Whistler XTR 280

I am new to the world of radar detectors and was wondering how good the XTR 280 is. I have one in my truck and am wondering how effective it is for the country and small towns (less than 50,000 Population). I appreciate any opinions on this model.

    Thanks,
    Wayne

Hi guys, I biught the XTR-280.
I have had Unidens for over 10 years and they have worked great but now they are just too old for the newer tech guns the cops have now.
So, the XTR-280 is really nice so far.
The rd is heavy with the batteries in it. It hangs down when mounted on my windshield. I'll work on that....
The filtering is Great - even on hwy mode.
And yes it does get warm when running / charging the batteries so for now I am running with the cord.
The 280 is bigger than my older Unidens but the performance is a lot better.
Found a city cop a minute before he was right on me. Thanks Whistler!
Still getting used to the beeps and the tones.
One other thing - I go for walks on my lunch hour and carry the 280 on battery mode along the main streets and watch and learn which bands the cops use when they pass by me. 8)

For $129.00 at Wally World - Yes its worth it.
