    Default escort x50

I had been fooled by RMR and bought a detector/scrambler before researching them. Roy's information and reviews really woke me up as far as radar and laser goes WOW! Well I purchased a Escort X50 with blue display for my 92 corvette. I went to Tweeter because I didn't want to wait for shipping. However my purchase was based on Roy's information and reviews on his website. I even left my cobra detector in the car and used the X50 at the same time to get a real hands on test. First let me tell you that the X50 is very quiet as far as false alarms. There is a 7-11 store that has set off every lesser detector I have owned including my cobra however several passes with my X50 and not a peep. The cobra went off allot in urban areas, where as the X50 remained silent. So I thought maybe the cobra is to sensitive??? Not the case!! I went on the highway and to my surprise the X50 smoked the cobra in speed trap detection!!!! The X50 had the best range I have ever seen even around corners and over hills. With little false alarms and excellent range if the X50 sounds off you better listen, because 9 out of 10 it's for real! Even though a C4 92 corvette has one of the lowest radar cross section's being a flat and very low car for radar return(remember my roof is the height of most cars dash) and the corvette has the lowest windshield angle in degrees of any GM car to date I find that with the X50 I can safely cruise at high speeds and have the highest protection available. Now I'm looking at the Z3 shifter and veil coating to go with the X50 for almost totally stealth car! All of this from Roy's Reviews and ratings. Good job Roy and keep up the good work!!!

Hehe, RD's aren't for speeding . They make you more aware of what's going on around you .

Good job though. I will be buying one asap.

    Welcome to the Forum, BTW!

    A word on laser jammers......

I've used my ZR3 for going on 3 years now. I've loved it - it's now being refurbished by the good people at Escort. Even here in NE-Ohio, it's never done me wrong, and I can say with relative certainty (note that it's pretty much always impossible to "guaranty" a true save) that it's saved me about three times, over these years.

However, take a look at the GOL tests before you buy.

Certainly, the ZR3 offers advantages in terms of excellent integration with your x50, "known-quantity" factory service/warranty (note, though, that you currently *must* have the unit professionally installed by an authorized shop, as well as purchased through an authorized retailer, for Escort to honor the product warranty), and also relatively low price.

However, even with the low laser signature that your 'Vette presents, the ZR3 (and its Bel sister) still lags behind, significantly, in terms of performance when compared to the Blinder - and even more so when compared to the diode-based jammers.

These are all things to consider when you think more seriously about a jammer purchase. Take the time to fully research the issue before you spend your hard-earned cash.

you see hear is the problem, I am trying to keep my car as original as possible on the interior and exterior as well, with the exception of my chrome saw-blade wheels. I go to allot of car shows with it as it is in prime condition and a vette that's 15 years old retains its highest value when its body and interior are unmolested and original.. My x50 is hard wired to the left of my drivers mirror and to the top windshield post thus no wires just a clean detector. So I like the Idea of the Z3 shifter because I can use the detectors own display with out adding to my interior. 2nd I like the small boxes for installing under my nose right under each turn signal. I do believe they are smaller than the blinders version but I could be mistaken. I wanted to go with the blinder at first but than started thinking about these things one at a time. I do think that a X50, Veil, and a Z3 shifter should give my a 94% chance considering the combination of all working together all in a nice concealable package. 8)

^ I don't know about the percentage - primarily as the ZR3 seems to be particularly effective against certain threats, but nearly totally incapable against others....

Not knocking the ZR3 - I've loved, and still love (hence getting it refurbished) mine - but I just want to put this out there for you.

I totally understand your wants/needs in terms of integration/install. Indeed, that sounds like a great plan on the interior, and yes, the front heads are indeed a little smaller than the Blinder's. The head for the rear plate is rather big, though.

    Best of luck!
